Virtual Tour The museum’s exhibit spaces feature a variety of vehicles, images, artifacts, and displays which tell the story of our area’s land transportation history. Through these exhibits, visitors can trace the evolution of power systems from man and horse, to steam, electricity, and internal combustion. Relative advantages in convenience, speed, cost, and flexibility can be weighed, and the impact on the community of enhanced transportation options can be assessed. Here's just a taste of what's in store for visitors when they tour the museum
To see larger picture, click on the thumbnail picture Trolley rides are now offered (Sundays only) from the first weekend in April through late December! From the first Sunday in April to mid-May, and again throughout November, the museum's 85-year-old trolley cars take you to Midway station on a nostalgic interurban trolley experience. Contact the museum for schedules of the trolley departures. Mid-may through early November, trolleys depart every 30 minutes starting at 11:30 a.m. The 1-1/2-hour excursion includes a guided tour at the neighboring Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum, featuring a restored country train depot and a wide assortment of railroad equipment on display. The trolley takes you to Midway Station where you'll board an authentic railroad track car---like the "gandy dancers" used---for continuation to the depot. On your return to Midway Station, you'll find the electric trolley car waiting for you. The conductor has reversed the trolley poles and you're ready to finish your return trip throught the beautiful Genesee Valley countryside. On special event days, a diesel train with two cabooses takes the place of the track cars to provide an authentic railroad experience. |
